Ever Notice...

... how walls that have dedicated murals put on them seem to be respected and left alone by taggers and other shitface vandals?

Me too.

I went to a leaseholders and tenants meeting in my apartment block the other night. One of the issues they raised was people fly-tipping (dumping) rubbish on the street opposite the building. The solution to this was to utilise the long brick wall that runs the length of that strip of road and commision local artists and children from the area to turn it into a mural. The thinking is that by making it a place that evokes a small sense of community pride, it will deter locals from dumping rubbish in front of it.

I love the idea, and I think it will work. I'm looking forward to our street becoming much more colourful too. Good stuff.

Street art for good is good.
